From AMP's Pivot Connector series, this unique connector provides a tool-free way to connect 8 unstripped 22-26 AWG wires to a board. The attachment mechanism is similar to a punch-down block, but the built in levers obviate the need for a punch-down tool. The wires are inserted into holes in the ends of the levers, and then the levers are pushed down by hand, snapping the wires securely into the insulation-displacing terminals. The result is a solid electrical and mechanical connection, with the wires laid out for easy visual inspection. Each lever has two holes, which makes this connector ideal for twisted-pair wire — one lever for each pair.

An interesting feature: the holes in the levers pass all the way through, which means that this connector could be strung onto a cable like a bead on a string, allowing multiple taps from a single wire. Precisely why one would want to do this is an open question, but it could be done.

This connector works well with CAT5 and CAT6 cable.
