This magnetometer board is designed to sense the Earth's natural magnetic field to enable your projects to sense magnetic north to determine what direction you or your project is heading. Make sure you account for the fact that magnetic north in most places is at least a few degrees off from true north. Here in Seattle it's about 15 degrees to the east of true north!
