Thermal Fuse 117°C – VET8115 (Formerly NTE8115) by Vetco Electronics Semiconductors

Reliable Overheating Protection with VET8115 Thermal Fuse

The VET8115 thermal fuse (formerly NTE8115) is a non-resettable, temperature-sensitive device designed to provide reliable overheating protection for household appliances and electronic equipment. When temperatures exceed the thermal rating, the fuse interrupts the electrical circuit to help prevent potential damage or danger. With a functioning temperature of 117°C (243°F), this fuse is perfect for keeping your devices safe and secure.

Features & Benefits of VET8115 Thermal Cutoff Fuse

  • Functioning Temperature: 117°C (243°F)
  • Maximum Current Rating: 15 Amps
  • Electrical Ratings:
    • 120/250 VAC – 15A interrupting, 10A continuous
    • 240 VAC – 25A resistive, 16.7A resistive
    • 277 VAC – 20A resistive, 15A resistive
    • 120−277 VAC – 125VA pilot duty
    • 180 VAC – 3A motor rating
  • Leads: 18 gauge solid copper, 1 1/3" long
  • UL, CSA, and VDE listed for trusted safety and compliance
  • Compact, easy-to-install design – fits most replacement configurations
  • Meets stringent industry requirements: UL File No. E49429, UL File No. E117626 (XCMQ2), C-UL File No. E117626 (XCMQ8), CSA File No. LR43279, VDE File No. 115369

Applications for 117°C Appliance Thermal Fuses

The VET8115 appliance thermal fuse is widely used in countless household and electronic products for overheat protection, making it an ideal replacement thermal cutoff for devices such as:

  • Hair dryers
  • Refrigerators
  • Battery chargers
  • Irons and hot plates
  • Glue guns
  • Electric motors and window fans
  • Coffee makers and microwave ovens
  • Popcorn poppers, dishwashers, and toasters
  • UPS devices
  • And hundreds of other small appliances and electronics

How Does a VET8115 Thermal Cutoff Work?

The VET8115 thermal cutoff fuse features an internal organic pellet. When the temperature exceeds 117°C, the pellet changes phase, triggering spring-activated contacts that permanently open the electrical circuit. This simple and effective design makes the VET8115 a trustworthy safety component for everyday consumer use – no resetting required.

Quality You Can Trust from Vetco Electronics Semiconductors

After NTE went out of business, Vetco Electronics Semiconductors located the original manufacturers and now offers these industry-standard thermal fuses under the VET____ part numbers (matching the last four digits to the original NTE numbers). All specifications and certifications remain the same, ensuring full compatibility and safety for all replacement needs.

Every VET8115 thermal fuse is thoroughly tested and ready for direct replacement in any application where thermal cutoff protection is needed.

Important Notes & Handling Tips

  • Do not store thermal fuses above +48°C (+120°F).
  • Color band does not indicate temperature group.
  • The fuse’s electrical resistance is similar to 18 gauge solid copper wire. For continuous use, operating temperature should be about 30°C less than the maximum rating.
  • No crimp connectors are included. If you need crimp butt connectors, please see our SR-BUT-2N connectors or contact us for assistance.

NOTICE 1: As you may or may not already know. NTE is officially out of business and we are unable to order parts from them ever again.

However, we were able to locate the company that NTE used to make these Thermal Cutoffs (All NTE did was relabel product and resell it). This means that you may order the NTE part, but we may ship different part numbers that are the original parts that match the NTE specifications. Certificates Of Conformity are available from us, upon request.

NOTICE 2: These no longer come with the un-insulated crimp butt connectors that NTE used to include with them. If you need them, we recommend either ordering SR-BUT-2N. If you have a special need for them, you can always email us for more information and we are always here to help.
