Vetco LED Resistor Calculator - Updated With A Modern Design

Our updated LED resistor calculator is now live on Vetco.net with a cleaner, more modern layout designed to make LED circuit planning faster and easier.

Updates include:

-Better UI

-Code Fixes

-Pre-populated, but still editable, common fields

-Mobile Friendly Design

If you are building a basic LED project, replacing an indicator light, designing a panel display, or helping a customer choose the right resistor, this calculator gives you a quick way to estimate the resistor value needed for a standard LED circuit.

What The LED Resistor Calculator Does

The calculator helps determine the correct resistor value for an LED based on the supply voltage, LED forward voltage, and desired LED current. This is especially useful when working with common LED circuits powered by batteries, DC adapters, Arduino boards, Raspberry Pi projects, control panels, automotive-style low voltage wiring, and other electronics projects.

Instead of only giving a theoretical resistor value, the Vetco calculator rounds to the closest resistor values that Vetco Electronics carries in store. That makes it easier to move from calculation to actual parts selection without hunting through values that may not be available locally.

Helpful For LED Projects, Repairs, And Prototyping

LEDs usually require a current-limiting resistor. Without the right resistor, an LED may be too dim, run too hot, or fail prematurely. Our LED resistor calculator is intended to make it easier to choose a practical resistor value for common single LED and simple LED circuit applications.

This tool is useful for hobbyists, students, technicians, repair customers, makers, and anyone who needs a quick LED resistor value without manually working through Ohm’s Law each time.

Important Notes Before Building Your Circuit

The calculator is a helpful starting point, but you should always verify the specifications of your LED, power supply, and circuit before final assembly. LED forward voltage and current ratings vary by color, size, manufacturer, and package type. For higher power LEDs, unusual LED arrays, or circuits with multiple LEDs, additional design considerations may apply.

If you are near Bellevue, Washington and need help finding the right resistor, LED, wire, power supply, or connector for your project, stop by Vetco Electronics and we can help you match the calculated value to parts we carry.
