This is an assembly consisting of two Fairchild F5D1 IR LEDs, each attached to one end of a 14-inch length of wire. The opposite ends of the wires are terminated with a 4-conductor 0.1-inch-pitch female header connector. The Fairchild F5D1 is a high-intensity narrow-beam IR LED in a TO-46 package. It emits 880 nm light with a viewing angle of 16 degrees. For each LED, the forward voltage is 1.7 volts and the continuous forward current is 100 mA. Pulsed currents up to 10 amps may be used, for signaling applications.
